    Wilson Reservoir, NV

Not only did we catch Bass and Rainbow Trout, we found ourselves one-on-one with a fully coiled rattle snake ready to strike.

    Wilson Reservoir
    Elko County (Independence Mountains)

If you're up North near Elko, be sure to take an adventure out to visit Wilson Reservoir. I remember the first time we camped out at the reservoir we had the most beautiful thunder storm that light up the mountain scape for hours...which made for great fishing that evening - minus the snake!

    Regulations
General regulations apply. Season is open year around, any hour of the day or night. Limit is 5 trout, 10 mountain whitefish and 10 black bass. Minimum size for black bass is 11 inches. The possession while fishing or use of the fish as bait, whether dead or alive, or parts thereof, except preserved salmon eggs, is prohibited.

    Boating Regulations
    No special regulations apply.

    Fish Species

    • Rainbow Trout
    • Largemouth Bass
    • Bull Trout

    Camping
Camping is available around the reservoir, however there are no hook-ups. Water, restrooms and trailer dump are available.

    Advice and Tips
May, June, September and October are the best months for open water fishing for trout. Ice fishing is good in December and January.

Bass fishing is best in late spring and summer. Spinner baits, crank baits and a variety of rubber grubs and worms are productive for bass.

Shore and boat fishing both work well, however, boat trolling in the hot weather months is more productive. Worms, corn, Power Bait and lures are good for trout from shore or still fishing from a boat. Trolling lures, flies and flashers with bait will catch fish.

Fly-fishing is good from a tube or boat.
